Crowd-Funding Update!

Posted on July 4, 2013

Happy Fourth of July fellow humanoids!

Sincere and safe wishes to you all for a wonderful holiday.

Remember those who are serving, particularly members of our armed forces who are spending this national holiday, America’s birthday, on foreign soil.

My 4th of July has started off great!

I’m off work for one, which is always nice, and I woke this morning to find another $25.00 donation had been made to our legal fund by friend and fellow West Monroevian Albert Sims!

Albert is a Facebook friend, we are close in age and have a lot in common, and I hope he doesn’t mind my telling you, but I see Albert talk in his posts and tweets about his struggle to make ends meet and it makes me me feel almost guilty for accepting his 25 bucks.

I’m certainly going to, our arbitration has amounted to a lawsuit-on-layaway for almost four years.

In that four years I’ve received unemployment benefits, I’ve gotten food stamps, I’ve wracked up several thousand in medical debt. After two years of looking for a job I finally found one and I’m mighty glad and grateful to have one in this day and age.

But I’m only making $10 an hour, that ain’t much when you’re suing a publicy traded billion dollar corporation in a legal fight thats lasted years. That’s my situation.

That’s why I’m willing to take my friend Albert’s money, even though I know he probably doesn’t have it to give.

It’s why I’m willing to take donations from friends like James, who is actually looking for a job right now, and Tina, who works as a 9-1-1 operator.

Crowd-funding, this group effort of family, friends, coleagues, aquaintances and even strangers – is the light at the end of the tunnel.

Combined with a super-secret $50.00 donation we received via snail mail, the Griffin Scott: Fired for Facebook fund is now, officially, halfway to our goal of $2,925.00!

Please keep sharing our story, have a happy and safe Fourth of July,
