Politics is marketing in its purest form.

This story is about politics and entertainment colluding for viewers and votes.

It’s a tale of Hollywood (the A&E Network) teaming with good old fashioned Louisiana Politics.

And why not, we (Louisiana) are totally hot right now; we’re on TV big time. HBO has mad love for the Bayou State with True Blood and Treme.

If you frequent Louisiana nightclubs you’re liable to run into an A-Lister and I’m not just talking in New Orleans. Stars have been shooting major flicks in Shreveport and Baton Rouge for over a decade now.

Speaking of Shreveport, a production company, Moonbot Studios based there – took home an Academy Award this year!

And Louisiana absolutely rules, I mean we totally dominate the reality TV field; Swamp People, Cajun Pawn Stars, Billy the Exterminator, and of course the biggest show in Louisiana today, a tale of ZZ Top look-a-likes who rule the duck call industry, a Hollywood hit, a TV show shot in my own, oft-forgot northeast corner of the “Boot”, a ‘reality’ show that is ruling the airwaves – Duck Dynasty.

Here’s where politics and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal come in – http://goo.gl/YJdCVZ – ‘Several Republican strategists are pushing Robertson, one the friendly bearded brothers on the A&E reality show ‘Duck Dynasty,’ to run for the seat being vacated by Rep. Rodney Alexander in September, according to a new report.’

I don’t believe it.

This is what I think happened: Governor Bobby Jindal doesn’t want Louisiana Senator David Vitter nor La Sec of State Jay Dardenne to succeed him as the state’s chief executive.

So he recruits northeast Louisiana’s only US representative, Congressman Rodney Alexander (R) of Quitman to run in 2015 when Kingfish Jindal abdicates to compete in the 2016 Hunger Games (GOP Presidential Primary).

To do this, he promises Rep Alexander a great job, running the La Office of Veteran Affairs, a little something to tide him over till the Alexander family relocates to the Governor’s mansion.

Next task for Kingfish Jindal & Crew, a rock-solid conservative Republican to replace Rodney Alexander in the US Congress.

Team Jindal doesn’t look beyond their rank of loyal foot-soldiers in the Louisiana legislature, state senator Neil Riser is a rubber-stamper, a Jindalista if you will, this Caldwell parish funeral home operator hasn’t met a Bobby Jindal opinion he didn’t vigorously agree with and now his loyalty is paying off in spades.

But Griffin Scott you say, how does Duck Dynasty tie in with your hypothetical tale of political intrigue?

This – http://goo.gl/WZbkQx

Willie Roberston isn’t running for Congress, he is one of the most famous people on planet Earth right now. Anyone who thinks he wants to be a congressman is smoking some good stuff lemme tell ya.

But guess what Willie Roberston does want?

No, let me rephrase; guess what Willie Robertson’s agent, the production company that makes Duck Dynasty and the A&E Network want? As many viewers as possible for the 4th season premiere of the show tonight.

So here’s what I think happened: I think Bobby Jindal’s people contacted Duck Dynasty’s people and cooked up a great little public relations scheme, a brilliant piece of marketing to benefit both camps.

And it’s working like a charm. How do I know?

Lookee Here Y'all! It's Senator 'Make a Deal Neil' Riser in a news story about Duck Dynasty and the upcoming election to fill Louisiana's 5th Congressional Seat. This by the way is the story that started all the speculation about Willie Robertson running for Congress.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch…

This is the best one, proof positive the 'Willie for Congress' story is as fake as the accents on True Blood: A news story published in The News Star in Monroe and The Daily Advertiser in Alexandria. The only major dailies that publish in Louisiana's 5th Congressional District publishes a story about Willie Robertson running for US Congress and who just happens to be hanging out with Willie when the reporter showed up to interview him? Well it's State Senator 'Make a Deal Neil' Riser! How fortunate... Even gets himself a quote in the story too.

Brilliant marketing.

Buzz that translated to more viewers for Duck Dynasty’s 4th season premiere tonight and advertising for State Senator ‘Make a Deal Neil’ Riser in his Congressional race.

And it didn’t cost a single dime.
